SURVIVAL IS THE GOAL
Trauma is the uninvited house guest that won’t leave. It interrupts you at any point during the day. It interrupts your routines; keeps you awake at night and doesn’t care what you think. And unfortunately, it never knows when to leave. But there is some good news. No matter what sort of trauma you suffer from – be it a sudden loss, a tragic event or childhood tragedy – you need to know none of it is your fault.
You didn’t cause it. You did not ask for it. The very fact that you are here, reading these words, means you did exactly what you had to do to survive. And we promise you, you do not have to suffer alone or carry this burden for the rest of your life. There are people and resources that can and want to help.
WE CARRY OUR TRAUMA
Trauma is a burden that others cannot see. Some days, the load is small and a manageable, other times it brings you to your knees. And while the trauma is your personal pain, it can affect your friends, family and the way you live your life.
So how can you transform yourself from a victim into a survivor? You can give yourself permission to identify new healing tools, treatments and safe spaces. You can carefully work to select a person or people to be a protector you trust. You can intentionally re-shape your environment and build new healthy habits.
